Dear friends of Groundswell,
We are excited to announce that Groundswell has new owner-stewards who will carry on caring for this beautiful land. We are full of gratitude that Sheri, Bird, and Meredith intend for their project to honor Earth and the land’s legacy in the spirit of community, inclusivity, and care.
We are heartened and hopeful for this next iteration at Groundswell!
Yours,
Jason and Janaia
Dear Friends and Family of Groundswell - past, present, and future:
We hope this message finds you well and surrounded by peace. With excitement and gratitude, we introduce ourselves as the new stewards of Groundswell. When we first stepped onto this land, it didn’t take long to recognize a deep, intuitive connection between Groundswell's former vision and our own. The values of care, respect, and community that shaped this retreat center align so beautifully with our own guiding principles that it felt as though the land itself was calling us to continue the work.
First and foremost, we want to express our deep appreciation for William, Jason, Janaia, and the many devoted humans who have poured their love and energy into caring for this land and community. Your commitment to preserving the beauty here, while fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment has been nothing short of inspiring. We are deeply thankful for your vision and stewardship over the years, and we are honored to continue that work with the same love and dedication.
As a team of three queer women from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we are honored to step into the role of stewards, carrying forward a legacy that has been built on a foundation of purpose and connection. The spirit of Groundswell is alive here, and we are committed to preserving that energy while creating new opportunities for growth, healing, and renewal. Our mission is to cultivate a space where both individuals and the land are nurtured, where deep connections can form, and where transformation can unfold in a setting that honors the wisdom of nature.
The land itself has always been a sanctuary, a place of refuge and reconnection, offering the chance to pause, breathe, and listen. It is here, amidst the trees and the gentle rhythms of nature, that true healing can take place. We welcome all who seek to find their own peace, clarity, and purpose.
In the coming months, we are excited to accept bookings for a variety of programming that will build community and connection. From wellness retreats and ceremonies to family reunions, weddings, and other events, Groundswell will continue to be a safe haven for celebration, healing, and joy. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat or a vibrant, playful community gathering, we are dedicated to offering a space that honors all identities and experiences.
Our stewardship of the land will be guided by a deep respect for its history and its future. Just as those who've come before us have done, we are committed to maintaining the sustainability of this beautiful place and ensuring it remains a sanctuary for all who visit. We will continue to cultivate this land with care, while also striving to make it a more inclusive space for queer, BIPOC, trans, and gender non-conforming communities. We want everyone who visits to feel safe, seen, and welcomed.
To existing Groundswell Community members - we are excited to welcome you back and continue the work of stewardship alongside this wonderful group. We will honor the traditions of the past while weaving our own vision into its future. Thank you for being a part of this journey — your support is a vital ingredient in keeping this land open and accessible.
And to all friends, past and present - we hope to meet you soon to create lasting memories together in this beautiful place we all cherish.
With gratitude and excitement,
Bird, Fiver (Meredith), and Sheri
