Groundswell is a sanctuary rooted in reverence for the Earth—an intentional space where healing, ceremony, and connection are prioritized in a world that urgently needs all three.
This is not a communal living space. Groundswell is a gathering place—a sacred land-based destination where individuals, practitioners, and organizations can come to host or participate in transformational experiences. It’s a place designed for temporary retreat and deep immersion, where visitors are invited to slow down, listen to the land, and reconnect with the wisdom within themselves and the world around them.
As the new stewards of Groundswell, we step into this role with humility and a sense of responsibility guided by those who tended this land before us, and committed to inclusivity, sustainability, and collective healing.
Now, we are inviting you to help us bring this vision fully to life.
✨ WHY GROUNDSWELL, AND WHY NOW?
In a time of disconnection and burnout, we believe there must be places that offer an alternative: rooted, rhythmic, real.
Groundswell will offer seasonal retreats, cultural and spiritual programming, and nature-immersive experiences. We envision partnerships with facilitators, therapists, educators, artists, and healers from diverse backgrounds.
Your support will help us:
🌱 Build eco-conscious infrastructure – including lodging, gathering spaces, and off-grid systems that respect and preserve the natural environment.
🔥 Create ceremonial and communal spaces – such as fire circles, meditation gardens, and healing lodges for group work and personal reflection.
🌕 Seed diverse, inclusive programming – centering BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and other historically marginalized voices in wellness, leadership, and spiritual practice.
🌍 Ensure long-term stewardship and accessibility – through equitable pricing models, scholarships, and community-supported retreat offerings.
🌿 A HOME FOR ENDANGERED WILDLIFE
Additionally, our stewardship extends beyond hosting gatherings. It embraces the land, its wildlife, and the living legacy of its ecosystem. We are honored to share that two sensitive species call this place home:
Western Pond Turtle - California’s only native freshwater turtle faces threats from habitat loss, invasive species, and climate disruption.
American Pika - This small, rabbit‑like mammal, adapted to cool, rocky highlands, is highly vulnerable to rising temperatures.
The presence of this wildlife here reminds us of the delicate balance we aim to protect.
Your donation supports ongoing efforts to maintain and restore the habitats of these remarkable creatures. Every contribution helps us tend the land with reverence and purpose, ensuring that Groundswell remains a sanctuary not only for people, but for the wildlife and ecosystems that enrich it.
